How to play WoW Talebound
You play Talebound inside the World of Warcraft client. Install the 12.1.7 PTR from Battle.net for the demo, open Talebound from the game menu, and create a Talebound character. You do not level a separate retail hero first.

During the demo window, the client that matters is the PTR. After the demo, the same menu path is how the live mode should open, on a date that is still OFFICIAL TBA. Times are on the demo page.

Solo, friends, and the Soulslike question
Blizzard’s line is “venture solo or with friends.” Party size, matchmaking, and cross-realm rules are not in that sentence, so I do not add them. The comparison people search — “Talebound is just Dark Souls” — is not an official line. The shared pieces are dodge, guard, and attacks that care about where you stand. My editorial comparison is that Talebound also emphasizes repeatable tales and class talents in a hub; that does not establish an official genre equivalence. Death penalties are not documented. I stop at that comparison.
Class choice changes the kit more than the menu does. Read the three classes before you lock a character, and Witch cat form if that is the search that brought you here. The six hub NPCs are in the table: Storyteller, Nib, Arcanist, Scribe, Outfitter, Antiquarian.
Questions people ask
How does Talebound work in WoW?
You enter it from the WoW game menu, create a Talebound character with one of three kits, clear the Red Hollow prologue, and take stories from Quillgrave. It is a mode, not a new client.
Is Talebound multiplayer?
Blizzard says you can go solo or with friends. A group-size cap and a matchmaking queue are not published.
Does Talebound support a controller?
There is no Talebound-specific controller announcement. WoW itself has native controller support, and players have asked for Talebound on the official forum. That is one community thread.
