What loads, and when
Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra load by default on the first visit. There is no Accept gate in front of them. The cookie banner is a notice and a withdrawal control: it appears on the first visit, Accept keeps the default, and Reject stops these providers and is remembered for 180 days. YouTube is the exception: its player is only created after you press a video poster. The site does not use a traffic-mesh or other banner SDK.
| Name | Purpose | When it loads | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js from googletagmanager.com) | Count page views and understand which guides are used | By default on the first visit | Cookies _ga and _ga_*; Consent Mode signals |
| Microsoft Clarity | Heatmaps and session recordings, with sensitive content masked by default | By default on the first visit | Cookies _clck and _clsk; Microsoft cookies CLID and MUID may also be set |
| Adsterra (Native Banner and Social Bar) | Show Native Banner and Social Bar ads on eligible pages (the disambiguation page has no automatic ads) | By default on the first visit | Adsterra cookies on bicea.org and adsterra.com; first-party key tb_social_bar_closed |
| YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) | Play a cited video | Only after you press a video poster | YouTube cookies such as VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC, PREF and CONSENT |
| talebound.org | Remember the cookie choice and a closed Social Bar | On the first visit and when you choose | localStorage keys tb_consent and tb_social_bar_closed |
The browser check on 31 October 2026 observed www.googletagmanager.com and www.google-analytics.com for GA4; www.clarity.ms, scripts.clarity.ms and rotating *.clarity.ms collection hosts for Clarity; and bicea.org for both Adsterra placements. Adsterra may use rotating delivery partners when an ad fills. Automatic ads are disabled on the Talebound vs Tailbound disambiguation page. The optional video player uses www.youtube-nocookie.com after a click.
Cookies and localStorage keys in detail
Google Analytics 4. The tag is G-9KT8N2J0VS and its loader is googletagmanager.com (gtag.js). GA4 writes the first-party cookies _ga and _ga_*; _ga lasts up to 2 years and the suffixed cookie maintains session state. The property’s event-data retention setting is not publicly verifiable; Google’s retention documentation explains the available settings. Before GA4 config, Consent Mode defaults ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization to denied, with analytics_storage granted and ads_data_redaction enabled. With no saved refusal, the site then updates the choice to granted and requests the providers immediately. Reject sets all four signals to denied and reloads the page with the providers disabled.
Microsoft Clarity. The project is z67k5zgvvc and the loader is clarity.ms/tag/z67k5zgvvc. Clarity writes _clck (about 1 year) and _clsk (about 1 day), and Microsoft may also set CLID and MUID (about 1 year). Session recordings are retained for up to 30 days; aggregated heatmaps are kept longer under Microsoft’s retention settings. Clarity masks form inputs and other sensitive content by default.
Adsterra. The publisher id is 3403020 and the site loads a Native Banner unit (32015039) and a Social Bar unit (32015040) from bicea.org. Adsterra sets its own cookies on its ad-serving domains (bicea.org and adsterra.com) for frequency capping, fraud prevention and ad delivery; those names are assigned by Adsterra and can change, so this site does not claim to enumerate them. The only first-party key this site adds for the fixed bar is tb_social_bar_closed, which records that you closed the Social Bar and expires after 180 days. Adult ads are switched off on this Adsterra website.
YouTube. The poster is a local image, so no YouTube request is made until you press play. After that, the youtube-nocookie.com player may set VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE (about 6 months), YSC (session), PREF (about 8 months) and CONSENT (up to 2 years), and YouTube’s own policy applies.
This site’s first-party keys. tb_consent holds { choice: "granted" | "denied", exp: <timestamp> } and lasts 180 days. tb_social_bar_closed holds { closed: true, t: <timestamp> } and also lasts 180 days. There is no other first-party analytics or advertising storage on this site.
Default-on choice, Reject, and 180 days
With no saved choice, the site writes granted to tb_consent and loads the three providers immediately; the banner still appears so the choice is visible. Reject writes denied, tells Clarity to stop, sets the GA4 consent signals to denied, and reloads the page to stop already running provider scripts. The reloaded page requests none of these providers and hides the banner. The denied record is read on the next visit for 180 days. The footer’s Cookie settings button reopens the banner, and Accept restores the providers. If the browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track (DNT), the site writes denied without waiting for a click and does not load the providers.
The banner is not a condition for reading the site. Every guide, table and image is served before any choice is made. Reject does not block the page; it only stops the three providers listed above.
Legal basis and retention
- Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra process usage and browser information. This build requests them by default and offers immediate withdrawal with Reject; the banner describes that behavior. Reject records a refusal and is honoured for 180 days.
- The <code>tb_consent</code> and <code>tb_social_bar_closed</code> keys are strictly necessary to remember your choice and to keep the fixed bar closed; they are not used to build a profile.
- Mail you send to [email protected] is kept long enough to answer and to keep a correction, then deleted when it is no longer needed.
- Provider retention is set by each provider: GA4 event retention follows the property setting and _ga may last up to 2 years; Clarity recordings up to 30 days; Adsterra and YouTube follow their own policies linked below.
- You can ask for access, correction, deletion, or a restriction by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Questions people ask
Do ads and analytics load before I click Accept?
Yes. Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra load by default on the first visit. The banner is a notice and a withdrawal control, not a gate. Reject stops them and is remembered for 180 days.
How do I change my cookie choice?
Use Cookie settings in the footer. Reject stores a denied choice and reloads without the providers. Accept stores granted and reloads to restore them. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track store denied immediately.
Does this site show adult ads?
No. Adult ads are switched off on the Adsterra website for talebound.org. Only a Native Banner and a Social Bar are installed; there is no Popunder, Banner or Smartlink unit.
What is stored in my browser by this site itself?
Two localStorage keys: tb_consent (your granted or denied choice, 180 days) and tb_social_bar_closed (that you closed the fixed Social Bar, 180 days). The rest is set by the providers named above.
